Negative Prompts

A "negative prompt" in the context of AI is a specific instruction given to an AI model to deliberately avoid generating certain elements, styles, or features in the output, essentially telling the AI "do not include this" rather than "include this" like a regular prompt; it's a way to guide the AI towards a desired result by explicitly stating what you don't want to see in the generated content.

Key points about negative prompts:

  • Purpose:

To prevent unwanted elements from appearing in the AI-generated output, ensuring the final result aligns more closely with your intentions.

  • How it works:

By adding a negative prompt alongside a regular prompt, you provide the AI with additional information about what to exclude.

  • Example:

If you want to generate an image of a beach scene without any people, you might use a positive prompt like "a serene beach with blue water" and a negative prompt like "no people".
